Iolani Peace Institute Endorses the Earth Charter
On June 23, 2006, the Iolani Peace Institute (IPI) officially endorsed the Earth Charter, an international "declaration of fundamental principles for building a just, sustainable, and peaceful global society for the 21st century."
IPI joins thousands of organizations around the world, representing millions of people, who have endorsed the Earth Charter.
The Earth Charter's goals are consistent with the mission of the Iolani Peace Institute to promote peace within and among people and peace with the natural environment. The Charter seeks to "inspire in all peoples a sense of global interdependence and shared responsibility for the well-being of the human family and the larger living world."
Information on the Earth Charter, the Earth Charter Initiative, and related programs (including ways to become involved) is available at www.earthcharter.org.
Members of the Iolani community and the Hawaii community may visit the site and learn more about how to contribute to this international movement to bring peace and environmental progress to the world.
