Financial Aid

If you feel that attending `Iolani would be financially impossible for your family, please apply for financial aid.  Admission decisions and financial aid decisions are completely separate, and applying for aid has no bearing on your child's admission outcome.

We award financial aid only to families who show financial need.  `Iolani has no merit scholarships or awards. Aid is renewable each year a student remains at `Iolani as long as the family completes a financial aid application each year and continues to qualify.

`Iolani’s financial aid budget is limited, and we are not always able to meet the full need of every student who qualifies for aid.

Steps to Apply

  • When you complete the online admission application, check the financial aid box and provide the required information.  If you are completing a paper application, fill out the “Request for Financial Aid” form and return it with your admission application.  Applying for financial aid does not affect your son or daughter’s opportunity for admission.  We accept students on a need-blind basis.

  • After December 1, we will send you a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS), along with supplementary information about `Iolani’s financial aid program.  Both parents in a separated or divorced family will be required to complete a financial aid application.  Continuing students who have received aid will automatically receive a packet.  Those who have not previously received aid, but wish to apply, should request a packet from the Financial Aid Office.

  • By February 15, send the completed PFS to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid in Pittsburgh, PA.  If you prefer, you can complete the PFS online at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss.   Be sure to make a copy of the completed PFS for yourself.

  • By March 1, the following documents are due:
    1. Signed 2008 Federal Income Tax Return (IRS 1040), including all schedules
    2. Signed IRS 4506-T form which permits `Iolani to request a copy of your submitted tax return.
    3. 2008 Wage and Tax Statement/s (W-2) and/or 1099 Earning Statements.
    4. Parent Non-filing Income Tax Statement if IRS 1040 is not filed.
    5. Benefit statements, if applicable, from: Social Security Administration, public assistance agencies, State Unemployment Compensation Office, state or private disability insurance agencies.
    6. Current property assessment information for all real estate owned.
