Moliere's Prodigious Snob

The 'Iolani Dramatic Players, under the expert direction of theatre teacher Rob Duval, will present the play Moliere's The Prodigious Snob on November 6 to 8 at 7 p.m. in Seto Hall. Admission is free and doors open at 6:30 p.m..

French playwright and actor Moliere is considered one of the greatest masters of comedy in Western literature. His farce Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme was translated by Miles Malleson as The Prodigious Snob.

A nouveau riche bourgeois gentleman, Monsieur Jourdain, makes a fool of himself by trying to impress others with his importance and wealth. But he is finally made the butt of a practical joke, takes part unwittingly in the marriage of his daughter to the man of her choice, and is properly initiated into nobility by a sham ceremony that only emphasizes the servility of those that pretend to greatness.

'Iolani senior Samuel Kor plays Monsieur Jourdain and Shantha McKinlay is Madame Jourdain. Other roles include Blaire Tolentino as Nicole, Jon Lee as Cleonte and Amelia Linsky as Lucille.
