Thank you for considering `Iolani School.  Unfortunately, the deadline to apply to kindergarten for the 2010-2011 school year has passed. It is no longer possible to apply online or to download the entire kindergarten packet.

Age Requirements

• Boys must turn five between June 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010.
• Girls must turn five between September 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010.

• Complete the application and mail it with a copy of your child’s legal birth certificate and the $100 application fee to:

Photos are not required, but we appreciate receiving them.   If you apply through the mail, you may include a photo with the application.  If you apply online, mail it later.  Just be sure to print your child's name and grade applying to on the photo.

Test

All kindergarten candidates test twice at `Iolani.  As soon as we receive your child's completed application, we schedule him/her for testing. 

Individual aptitude testing begins in September.  Each child attends a weekday morning session in the Office of Admission.  It lasts approximately one hour.  Candidates return for a Saturday group readiness session in December, January or February.  Children meet in groups of 12 for 90 minutes and participate in classroom readiness activities.    

Off island candidates should contact our office at (808) 943-2222 so that we can arrange to have both tests administered within a two-day period.  

Report Cards or Progress Report

If your child's school issues a report card or progress report, please make sure that we receive a copy of the 1st semester/2nd quarter report by February 10.

Recommendation Forms for Teachers and Mentors

Download the forms listed below or use those mailed to you in your application packet.  Read the directions carefully.  Complete and sign the release statement on each form, and ask the teacher (required) and mentor (optional) to return the completed forms directly to us between December 1 and January 31.

Decision

If you meet all the deadlines, you can expect to receive a decision letter no later than April 30.  If offered admission, you have until May 10, the HAIS Common Reply Date, to respond to our offer.
